Darker than the finished wood, which leads me to believe that IF the finish was stripped and oil finished, the wood would loose its blonde character. It's heavily lacquered and a very hard finish. The finish on the stock has always intrigued me. Leaves on the trigger guard, a stylized African antelope on the floor plate. The floor plate and trigger guard are engraved. The fore end and pistol grip cap are rosewood with inlayed maple, in the form of a bear's head, on the pistol grip cap.
